1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing, downloading, or using ONTO Wallet and any related services, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and the Ontology Wallet team.

If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, you must not use the wallet or associated services. Continued use of ONTO Wallet indicates your ongoing acceptance of the current version of these Terms.

ONTO Wallet is a non-custodial application. This means you retain full control over your private keys, assets, and on-chain actions at all times. By using the wallet, you acknowledge that you are solely responsible for managing your wallet credentials and understanding how the application functions.

These Terms apply to all users of ONTO Wallet, including individuals, developers, organizations, and any other entities accessing the software or related services.

Important Notice: ONTO Wallet does not custody user funds, provide financial advice, or act on behalf of users. All blockchain interactions are initiated and authorized by the user.

2. Description of Services

ONTO Wallet is a non-custodial software application designed to allow users to interact directly with the Ontology blockchain and related networks. The wallet provides tools for managing digital assets, executing on-chain transactions, and interacting with blockchain-based applications.

ONTO Wallet does not store, transmit, or control user private keys, recovery phrases, or digital assets. All actions performed through the wallet are initiated and authorized solely by the user and executed on the underlying blockchain network.

The services provided by ONTO Wallet are limited to software functionality. We do not operate as a financial institution, broker, exchange, custodian, or payment service provider, and we do not offer investment, legal, or tax advice.

Core wallet functionality includes:

  • Creating and importing blockchain wallets using recovery phrases or private keys
  • Managing supported digital assets and viewing on-chain balances
  • Sending and receiving transactions on supported blockchain networks
  • Signing and approving on-chain transactions locally on the user’s device
  • Interacting with smart contracts and decentralized applications that support Ontology standards

Additional features may include:

  • Access to staking and governance mechanisms provided by the blockchain protocol
  • Viewing transaction history and on-chain activity
  • Integration with third-party decentralized services through standard blockchain interfaces

Service limitations:

ONTO Wallet does not guarantee the availability, performance, or reliability of any blockchain network, smart contract, or third-party service accessed through the wallet. Blockchain networks operate independently of ONTO Wallet and may experience delays, congestion, errors, or protocol changes.

We reserve the right to modify, update, suspend, or discontinue specific features of the wallet at any time, including for maintenance, security, or technical reasons.

3. Eligibility

By accessing or using ONTO Wallet, you confirm that you have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms of Service and to use the services in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. You represent that you are using the wallet for lawful purposes only and that your use does not violate any local, national, or international laws.

ONTO Wallet is intended for use by individuals who understand the risks associated with blockchain technology, digital assets, and decentralized systems. By using the wallet, you acknowledge that blockchain transactions are irreversible and that you are solely responsible for verifying transaction details before approval.

You are responsible for ensuring that your use of ONTO Wallet is permitted in your jurisdiction. Laws and regulations governing digital assets and blockchain technology may vary by location, and access to certain features may be restricted or unavailable depending on applicable legal requirements.

ONTO Wallet does not knowingly provide services to individuals or entities subject to sanctions, embargoes, or other legal restrictions imposed by applicable authorities. By using the wallet, you confirm that you are not prohibited from accessing blockchain services under the laws of your jurisdiction.

If you do not meet these eligibility requirements, you must not access or use ONTO Wallet.

4. Wallet Security & Responsibility

ONTO Wallet is a non-custodial wallet, which means you retain full control over your wallet, private keys, and digital assets at all times. We do not have access to your private keys, recovery phrases, passwords, or funds, and we cannot recover them on your behalf.

You are solely responsible for safeguarding your wallet credentials, including your recovery phrase, private keys, and any authentication information associated with your device. Loss of this information may result in permanent loss of access to your wallet and assets, and such loss cannot be reversed.

All transactions initiated through ONTO Wallet are authorized locally on your device. Once a transaction is signed and submitted to the blockchain, it cannot be modified, canceled, or reversed. You are responsible for reviewing transaction details carefully before confirming any on-chain action.

ONTO Wallet may provide features designed to help users manage and protect their wallets, but the effective use of these features depends on your actions and device security practices. We are not responsible for losses resulting from user error, device compromise, malware, phishing attacks, or unauthorized access caused by factors outside our control.

Your Responsibility

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your recovery phrase, private keys, and wallet access credentials. ONTO Wallet does not store or back up this information and cannot assist with recovery if it is lost or exposed.

Device & Access Security

You are responsible for securing the devices on which ONTO Wallet is installed. This includes maintaining system updates, protecting against malware, and preventing unauthorized physical or remote access to your device.

No Account Recovery

ONTO Wallet does not offer account recovery, password resets, or asset restoration services. Access to your wallet can only be restored using your recovery phrase created during wallet setup.

5. User Responsibilities

By using ONTO Wallet, you agree to use the application responsibly and in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and these Terms of Service. You are solely responsible for all actions performed through your wallet and for ensuring that your use of the wallet aligns with your local legal requirements.

You understand that ONTO Wallet is a software tool for interacting with blockchain networks and does not provide financial, legal, or investment advice. Any decisions you make based on information available through the wallet or third-party services are made at your own discretion and risk.

You are responsible for ensuring that your use of ONTO Wallet does not harm the network, other users, or third parties, and that it does not involve unlawful, abusive, or fraudulent behavior.

Accurate Use: Use ONTO Wallet only for its intended purposes and review transaction details, addresses, and amounts carefully before confirmation.
Legal Compliance: Comply with all applicable laws and regulations related to digital assets, blockchain usage, and financial activities in your jurisdiction.
Credential Protection: Safeguard your recovery phrase, private keys, passwords, and device access information from unauthorized access or disclosure.
Informed Decisions: Understand the risks associated with blockchain transactions, including volatility, irreversible transactions, and smart contract behavior.
Third-Party Interactions: Exercise caution when interacting with third-party applications, smart contracts, or services accessed through ONTO Wallet.
Prohibited Use Avoidance: Refrain from using ONTO Wallet for illegal activities, including fraud, money laundering, or unauthorized access to systems or data.

6. Prohibited Activities

When using ONTO Wallet, you agree to act responsibly and in compliance with applicable laws and regulations. The wallet is designed to provide access to blockchain functionality, and misuse of these capabilities may result in harm to other users, the network, or third parties.

  • Engaging in market manipulation, wash trading, or pump-and-dump schemes
  • Using automated systems or bots to access the Services without permission
  • Interfering with or disrupting the Services or connected networks
  • Violating any applicable laws, regulations, or third-party rights
  • Circumventing any security features or access controls

We reserve the right to investigate suspected violations of these prohibited activities and take appropriate action. This may include restricting or terminating access to the Services, cooperating with authorities where required, and taking any other steps necessary to protect users, the network, and the integrity of ONTO Wallet.

7. Fees & Transactions

Transactions executed through ONTO Wallet are processed directly on the blockchain. As a non-custodial wallet, ONTO Wallet does not control, modify, or reverse transactions once they are submitted to the network.

By using the Services, you acknowledge that blockchain transactions are subject to network rules, fees, and confirmation processes that are outside of our control.

7.1 Network Fees

Blockchain transactions require network fees to be paid to validators or network participants who process and confirm transactions.

  • Network fees are determined by the blockchain protocol and current network conditions.
  • ONTO Wallet does not set, collect, or retain network fees.
  • Fees are paid directly by the user as part of each transaction.
  • Insufficient fees may result in delayed or unconfirmed transactions.
  • You are responsible for reviewing and approving all transaction fees before submitting a transaction.

7.2 Transaction Finality

  • Once a transaction is broadcast to the blockchain, it cannot be reversed, canceled, or modified.
  • Transactions become final after confirmation by the network.
  • Failed or pending transactions may still incur network fees.
  • ONTO Wallet cannot recover funds sent to incorrect addresses.
  • You are solely responsible for verifying transaction details, including recipient addresses and amounts, before confirmation.

7.3 Third-Party Fees and Services

  • Some transactions may involve third-party services, smart contracts, or decentralized applications.
  • Additional fees may be charged by third-party protocols or applications.
  • ONTO Wallet does not control or guarantee the pricing, availability, or behavior of third-party services.
  • Interactions with external services are subject to their own terms and conditions.
  • We recommend reviewing third-party documentation before engaging in any on-chain interactions.

7.4 Transaction Delays and Failures

  • Blockchain transactions may be delayed or fail due to network congestion, protocol rules, or insufficient fees.
  • Confirmation times may vary depending on network activity.
  • Transactions may remain pending or fail without completing.
  • ONTO Wallet is not responsible for delays caused by network conditions.
  • Users should monitor transaction status through the blockchain and take appropriate action if required.

Closing Note: By using ONTO Wallet, you acknowledge and accept the inherent characteristics of blockchain transactions, including fees, delays, and irreversibility. ONTO Wallet provides tools to submit and view transactions but does not guarantee transaction outcomes.

8. Intellectual Property Rights

All intellectual property rights related to ONTO Wallet, the Services, and associated content are owned by or licensed to Ontology and its affiliates. This includes, but is not limited to, the software, source code, user interface, visual design, logos, trademarks, documentation, and written content.

Nothing in these Terms grants you ownership of any intellectual property rights. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Services solely for personal or internal business purposes, in accordance with these Terms.

You may not use the Services or any associated materials in a way that infringes upon our intellectual property rights or the rights of third parties.

You agree not to:

  • Copy, modify, distribute, sell, or sublicense any part of the wallet software or Services
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code, except where permitted by law
  • Use Ontology trademarks, logos, or branding without prior written permission
  • Create derivative works based on the Services or their content
  • Remove or alter copyright, trademark, or proprietary notices

Any feedback, suggestions, or ideas you provide regarding the Services may be used by Ontology without restriction or obligation to compensate you.

Unauthorized use of intellectual property may result in termination of access to the Services and potential legal action.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Ontology, its affiliates, and contributors shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of, or inability to use, the Services.

This limitation applies regardless of the legal theory under which liability is claimed, including contract, tort, negligence, strict liability, or otherwise, even if Ontology has been advised of the possibility of such damages.

In particular, Ontology shall not be liable for:

  • Loss of digital assets, tokens, or funds resulting from user error, forgotten credentials, or loss of private keys or recovery phrases
  • Losses caused by blockchain network failures, forks, congestion, or protocol-level changes
  • Service interruptions, delays, or errors beyond our reasonable control
  • Unauthorized access to your wallet resulting from compromised devices or third-party software
  • Actions or failures of third-party services, protocols, validators, or applications

To the extent liability is not excluded, the total aggregate liability of Ontology arising out of or relating to the Services shall not exceed the amount you paid to Ontology for use of the Services during the twelve (12) months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or zero (0) if no fees were paid.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages, so parts of this section may not apply to you. In such cases, liability will be limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.

10. Disclaimers & Warranties
