To create a new wallet, open Ontology Wallet and choose Create Wallet on the start screen. You will be asked to set a local wallet name and generate a recovery phrase. Write down the recovery phrase and store it securely offline. After confirming the phrase, the wallet will be created and ready to use.
Ontology Wallet is available for desktop platforms, including Windows, macOS, and Linux. Mobile applications for iOS and Android are also supported. Specific version requirements are listed on the download page and may change with future updates.
Download the installer for your operating system from the official Ontology Wallet website or supported app stores. Run the installer and follow the on-screen instructions. Once installation is complete, launch the application to begin setup.
No registration or centralized account is required. Ontology Wallet is non-custodial and works entirely through locally generated wallets and cryptographic keys. All access is controlled by your wallet credentials.
Yes. Ontology Wallet allows you to create and manage multiple wallets within the same application. Each wallet is isolated and has its own recovery phrase and set of accounts.
Select Import Wallet and choose your preferred import method, such as recovery phrase or private key. Enter the required information and assign a local name to the wallet. Once imported, all associated accounts and balances will be restored.
Wallet data is stored locally on your device. This includes encrypted private keys, account metadata, and local settings. Ontology Wallet does not store wallet data on external servers.
Yes. Wallets can be renamed for easier identification or removed from the application. Removing a wallet only deletes local data and does not affect funds on the blockchain, as long as the recovery phrase is safe
Reinstalling the application removes local wallet data. To regain access, you must import your wallet using the recovery phrase or private key. Without this information, wallets cannot be restored.
Private keys are generated and stored locally on your device in encrypted form. They are never transmitted to Ontology servers or third parties.
Only the holder of the private keys or recovery phrase has access to the wallet funds. Ontology Wallet developers and servers do not have access to user wallets or assets.
If your recovery phrase is compromised, immediately create a new wallet and transfer all assets to it. Anyone with access to the phrase can fully control the wallet and its funds.
No. Ontology Wallet cannot recover wallets, private keys, or funds. Responsibility for backup and recovery rests entirely with the user.
Select the account you want to send from, choose Send, enter the recipient address and amount, review the transaction details, and confirm. The transaction will be signed locally and broadcast to the network.
ONG is used to pay transaction fees on the Ontology blockchain. The required fee amount depends on the transaction type and network conditions.
Transactions may remain pending due to network congestion, low fee settings, or temporary connectivity issues. Pending transactions usually resolve automatically once network conditions improve.
No. Blockchain transactions are irreversible once confirmed. Pending transactions cannot be manually canceled from the wallet.
Transaction history and status are available within the wallet interface for each account. You can also view transactions using Ontology-compatible blockchain explorers.
Check your internet connection and ensure the application is up to date. Restarting the wallet may also help. If the issue persists, network synchronization may be temporarily unavailable.
Balance updates may be delayed due to network synchronization or pending transactions. Refreshing the wallet or waiting for network confirmation usually resolves the issue.
Ensure your system meets the minimum requirements and that you are using the latest version of the wallet. Restarting the application or reinstalling it may resolve the issue. Always back up your recovery phrase before reinstalling.
Read the error message carefully and follow any suggested actions. Most errors are related to network connectivity, invalid input, or temporary issues. If the problem persists, consult the documentation or community support channels.
